Availability
pop is available for macOS 15.2+ on Apple silicon, with bundled and local templates, Recents, document editing, imported file attachments, and PNG/PDF export. Creating, previewing and building pop, rendering template artwork, editing documents, and exporting closed documents as PNG/PDF also work on Linux with Bun.
Get the iPhone app
Section titled “Get the iPhone app”The iPhone app for iOS 26+ is in TestFlight; the App Store release
is coming soon. Install it through TestFlight on your iPhone. The app opens, edits and creates pop, with the Popular templates, Little Days among them, as starters,
and imports .pop files from Files.
Library, widgets and collaboration
Section titled “Library, widgets and collaboration”The Synced Library keeps pop in sync between your Mac and iPhone through your private iCloud storage, transferring whole files and merging document edits. Sign in to the same iCloud account on both; no separate sharing account is needed for library sync.
When creating a pop on Mac, choose iCloud to sync with your iPhone, or On this Mac to pick a folder. File ▸ Move to iCloud… moves an existing local pop into the library and puts the original in Trash after checking the saved copy. The library list shows when it last synced, and says so when it can’t reach iCloud and will retry.
On an account switch, the previous account’s local pop stay on the device and stop
syncing; they are not uploaded to the new account. This managed library is separate from
editing active .pop files in iCloud Drive or another synced folder, which remains
unsupported. On Mac, a document in iCloud offers Move to ~/pop and Open to move it
into local storage before editing.
macOS desktop widgets display saved document images in small, medium and large sizes when the embedded app includes a widget view. The iPhone app adds Home Screen widgets for library pop with a widget view, rendered on the phone; tap to open the pop. iPhone widgets also refresh in the background when iOS allows. See widget setup and refresh behavior.
Live collaboration is available in the Mac app and the iPhone app on TestFlight. Share a live link so anyone with it can edit in pop on Mac or iPhone, or in Chrome at share.dotpop.click. See live sharing for sign-in, browser copies and stopping a link.
Local browser copies, opened with pop open --browser, are in beta. They open
independent document copies in Chrome on desktop with local browser storage and
download a complete .pop file through Save As. A copy does not connect to the
original Mac document. Safari and mobile browsers remain unqualified.
Camera, microphone and speech recognition depend on the host. See capabilities and permissions for the support matrix.
Future work includes hosted catalog and template publishing, other native platforms, a document history view, and app/schema upgrades. Windows, Android and Linux native apps are longer-term directions without release dates. Per-pop permission decisions tied to an app’s code and additional device capabilities remain proposals.
Newer pop opens documents from every released version. Installing a newer host never automatically replaces the app embedded in an existing document.
